In 2015, we obtained a patent for a new roasting system, and in 2017, we secured a patent for an innovative roasting method. The machine’s design prioritizes mobility, with a total weight of 26 kg and the capacity to roast from 200g to 1kg per batch. It is the ideal choice for both coffee enthusiasts and coffee shops.

With its challenging cantilever-style design, SPR-1 not only minimizes its footprint but also strengthens its appearance with special materials. All the metal components that come into contact with the beans are made of food-grade stainless steel to ensure user safety and control while operating SPR-1.

While most so-called smart roasters can automate the startup, timing, temperature control, and shutdown processes, they often require human supervision throughout the process.

However, SPR-1’s intelligent roasting machine goes beyond that. Apart from loading and unloading beans, it doesn’t require human intervention. It can automatically detect and calculate, roasting to the precise level you desire. Even if you forget to shut it down due to unforeseen circumstances, SPR-1 will automatically cool down and shut off to ensure safety.

What type of heating method does it belong to (direct fire or hot air)?

The SPR roaster uses an air-based heater for conduction, convection, and radiation heating operations. Different types of heaters have their advantages and disadvantages, leading to distinctions between direct fire and semi-direct fire heating methods. However, the primary factor determining the choice of heating method is whether the heat source inside the roasting chamber can reliably provide the required heat energy for coffee roasting. Excessive or insufficient heat is not suitable for roasting. In simple terms, when roasting a large quantity, a significant amount of heat must be provided within a short time to ensure the coffee absorbs it, often leading to the use of direct fire heating. To address the drawbacks of direct fire roasting, the semi-direct fire method was developed.

Both direct fire and semi-direct fire heating methods are discussed in the context of flame roasting. However, electric heating is not based on a flame to mature the coffee beans but utilizes electric heat generation through the air inside the roasting chamber for conductive heat transfer. The radiant heat generated by electric heating elements also contributes to heat accumulation inside the roasting chamber.

If you were to classify the heating method used by the SPR roaster, it would fall under the category of electric open-air heating. None of the electric heating methods should involve the generation of flames.

Is 110V electrical supply sufficient?

It’s sufficient, absolutely sufficient.

The SPR roaster uses a 1.2KW electric heater for heating and high-grade thermal insulation materials to prevent heat loss. It also employs automatic temperature control to ensure it meets the heating requirements for roasting. The heater’s voltage can be adjusted according to the electrical specifications of the country of use to comply with local electrical regulations.

How long does it take to cool the beans?

It is advisable to cool the beans to room temperature plus 10°C (50°F) within 5 minutes to prevent the beans from continuing to mature due to internal heat absorption.

The difference between gas and electric heating

Many friends ask this question, strictly speaking, there should be no difference. As long as you control the stable and appropriate supply and release of heat, coupled with excellent roasting chamber design, in simple terms: food roasting means providing stable and appropriate heat within a unit of time to promote the maturation of food. Good equipment design will inevitably produce good products, and coffee roasting is no exception.

After assessing the abnormal situation and relevant repair factors, our technical personnel will evaluate the best approach, whether it involves returning the machine to our facility or conducting on-site repairs.

Machine sent back to the original manufacturer for processing.

Upon the machine’s arrival, our policy is to resolve the abnormality and return it within 3 days. Within 7 days, we must complete the abnormality report, conduct a root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
